July 6-8Howe Sound Outrigger Race, Gibsons British Columbia,Can.- The 9th Annual Howe Sound Outrigger Race will be held on July 6-8, 2007 in Gibsons British Columbia just 50 minutes from Vancouver Canada. August 18-22 Paddle Oregon, Willamette,OR.- JPaddle Oregon is a five day, four night canoe and kayak trip down the Willamette River in the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley. This year's trip starts on the Santiam River in Jefferson and ends at Clackamette Park in Oregon City. Participants camp together; eat delicious catered meals; enjoy nightly speakers and entertainment; learn about river issues and ecology; and share this one of a kind experience with fellow paddlers. August 20-23 British Canoe Union Week,Cathlamet, WA.- Four days of training and assessment in the BCU tradition offered by some of the nation’s top BCU coaches in some spectacular paddling locations. August 24-26 Lower Columbia Kayak Roundup, Cathlamet, WA.- A skills-based sea kayak symposium hosted by Skamokawa Center and Columbia River Kayaking. Two days of on-water classes for all levels are followed by some rousing and skill-building kayak games. Top it off with a day trip designed to challenge those new skills, all presented by a dozen of the nation’s top kayak coaches and locally knowledgeable guides. The Lower Columbia River is up to 8 miles across, studded with islands, tidally influenced, home to two National Wildlife Refuges and lots of wildlife, which make it the perfect kayaking classroom. Protected sloughs open into exciting channels, and culminate at the legendary Mouth of the Columbia. LoCo Roundup is based on Puget Island in the middle of the Columbia River an hour and a half NW (downriver) from Portland, OR, at Slow Boat Farm. Camping, lodging, and naturally raised local produce and meat are available. LoCo Roundup features evening programs, music, and good fun. Registration is now open, and limited to 60 participants.
