Legend, Mad River Canoe
Put-In: What is old is new again with the reintroduction of the Legend. This venerable hull was formerly under the Dagger name, and Mad River has brought it back into the spotlight. Complementing Mad River's legendary Explorer, the Legend will be positioned toward more rough-water pursuits. With the new emblems come the innovative IQ2 gunwales, a design intended to ease outfitting and offer versatility.
Performance: The Legend's great stability and maneuverability provide confidence for those forays into more technical water. When the hits are unavoidable, there is an exceptionally blunt nose to take the abuse. There is also plenty of volume carried to the ends from the midsection, enhancing buoyancy. These features do come at a price. The Legend is work to paddle, regarding both tracking and efficiency. Royalex construction is also a double-edged sword-it's great for impacts, but the hull flex makes the boat feel even heavier on the paddle.
Comfort: The seat height was comfortable sitting or kneeling. There is good room for feet under the seat if you kneel, and the bow volume provides ample legroom. That volume does affect comfort, as the gunwales interfere with the stroke. The extended volume also overwhelms the end flare and, combined with lower-end depths, provides a wetter ride than expected in a "whitewater" hull.
Take-Out: Paddlers will be happiest with the Legend on moving water. A very forgiving hull opens opportunities to play. There is ample capacity, whether filled with drybags for trips or airbags for the more adventurous.
5-Point Rating: Speed, 2; Maneuverability, 5; Tracking 2; Stability, 4.5; Comfort, 3

| I recently purchased a Champlain Kevlar with a center seat and web fore and aft seats. This canoe is sensational. It took a bit of paddling to get used to the ultra light weight. I paddle this canoe sitting in the front seat facing rearward. With proper ballast; the Champlain is super easy to paddle. The glide is fantastic and it responds precisely to the J Stroke. Actually a quick twist of the wrist is all that's necessary to keep this canoe driving strait. I, however, can not paddle from the center seat. The paddle just doesn't have the proper affect on the boat from that position. I'd not order that option. The boat will turn on a dime. It is fast and it is stable. Windy days can create a challenge, but then, wind will do that. An otter tail paddle is a pleasure with this canoe and a beaver tail will really make her move out. Love it! Loading and unloading off the top of my pickup cap is a breeze. And the quality is supurb...I would buy another one if needed. |

| These earrings are truly well crafted, whimsical and perfect for the friend I bought them for. They are really cute and so well made. They are light weight and comfortable. I really love them.Just got my Handbags! They are absolutely beautiful, and the quality is just amazing. Luxury & fashion & cheap bags.Just got my ugg boots! They are absolutely beautiful, and the quality is just amazing. No wearing them in, no blisters just absolutely snug strait out of the box.I have had these ear buds for a couple of days now, about 10 hours listening so far. Have to say they are comfortable in the ear, while just sitting or working out, along with excellent sound. My ipod, palm lifedrive and desktop stereo powers these just fine.I am pleased with the perfect fit of the timberland boots I ordered. I live in Colorado and seem like my feet always cold anyway but the timberland boots keeps them plenty warm.I like the watches very much, for both the free shipping and the quality,I will be back in future.Hope the website can b |
