Whitewater Hall of Fame Nominations

The International Whitewater Hall of Fame and Museum was founded in 2003 to recognize and honor those individuals who have made significant accomplishments in and contributions to whitewater sports.

The acceptance period for nominations for the 2007 Class of Inductees into the International Whitewater Hall of Fame is now open and will be accepted from Affiliate Organizations through March 30, 2007. The whitewater community is encouraged to contact their affiliates to participate in the nomination process. A listing of the affiliates can be found on the IWHOF website through www.iwhof.com . The website also provides the nomination criteria for the four categories (Pioneer, Explorer, Champion, and Advocate) as well as the bios for the 2005 and 2006 Class of Inductees.


The inaugural Induction Ceremony of the International Whitewater Hall of Fame and Museum was held Friday, October 14, 2006.
The 2005 Inductees: Bill Endicott Lifetime Achievement, Bob McNair Pioneer, Rob Lesser Explorer, Davey Hearn Champion, Jon Lugbill Champion, Payson Kennedy Advocate, Charlie Walbridge Advocate

About IWHOF and ASCI

The International Whitewater Hall of Fame (IWHOF) recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to whitewater related activities. The first class of honorees was inducted in 2005. Development plans for a museum are currently underway. Founded in 2003, IWHOF is part of the Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI). The 2006 Inductees: Advocates Tom Johnson and Martin Litton (both of California), Champions Scott Shipley (Colorado) and Gisela Grothaus-Steigerwald (Germany), Explorer Herbert Rittlinger (Germany), and Pioneer Jim Snyder (West Virginia).

ASCI is a non-profit organization with a mission to create an International Adventure Sports Center that is recognized as a focal point in the emerging and expanding adventures sports industry. The Center, located in McHenry, Maryland, is home to the world’s only mountain-top whitewater course and is slated to open spring 2007. The outdoor sports complex also features a central village complex, a 600-seat amphitheater, and 550 acres of trails and recreational venues. www.adventuresportscenter.com
