National Kayak and Canoe Sprint Team Named
The 2006 Sprint Senior US National Team roster was announced Friday, May 5. The team will represent the United States in international canoe and kayak competitions this year, and are the pool from which participants in the World Championships will be selected.
The Flatwater Sprint Senior National Team was named following the Sprint US Team Trials held on the Otay Reservoir in Chula Vista, California, from April 28-30. This team will represent the United States on a European tour, which begins next week. This tour includes World Cup competition and training with coaches Nathan Luce and Guy Wilding.
In mid-August, many of these athletes will travel to Hungary for the ICF World Championships. The complete composition of the World Championships Team is yet to be determined as selection is dependent on World Cup competitions and coaches' evaluation.
